The Ventura Swarm was a great success. Despite fog lurking in the Santa Barbara Channel and wind that never exceeded 10 knots, it was warm and sunny and we had a wonderful day that, as one participant noted, was the highlight of the summer. We had 5 boats, a chase boat, 3 people that came because they are curious about the Weta and wanted to check it out, and we generated much interest among the locals at the ramp and at the beach. My wife summarized it perfectly in a text message to her BFF that I have copied and pasted:
The boys had a lot of fun. What’s not to like? You come and sail all afternoon in Ventura, head over to (Bob’s) house where you get to soak in a jacuzzi under the late afternoon sun, while your dinner of ribs, bbq chicken, mac n cheese and bbq beans are waiting on warm in the oven. The dinner table is all set and the Caesar salad is chilling in the fridge. Plus, there’s a cooler with cold beer on the patio. The ultimate SoCal after party after a day of play. Bob has it sooo good.
Yep, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Hopefully, there will be more photos to come from the other participants.
Awesome event! Thanks for the report.
