Here are the current standings for the Florida District Championship. Two of three events have been sailed with only WetaFest, April 16 - 18 remaining.
I misspoke during my remarks at the Dick Hitchcock Regatta this past weekend. I apologize to Bill Swanson, who is in fact currently leading this competition followed, as you can see, by Pooch Pucciarello.
This series was originally planned for 4 events, but the Charlotte Harbor Regatta was cancelled leaving three events.
A high point scoring system is used which will reward high finishers in larger regattas. The score is the overall score for the regatta with the first place equal to the number of boats registered for the event. Each place after that earns one less point.
There is one throwout, so your final score is the sum of your two best regatta scores.
It is anticipated that WetaFest would be at least as well attended as either of the first two events, and probably bigger. So it really will come down to how well the top people sail at WetaFest (if they do compete). There are too many possibilities to start to project, but you can certainly look at your situation and see what you have to do at WetaFest to win the Championship.
This is a winner take all championship, with an award for the winners of the Single Handed Division and the Double Handed Division.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
